AI agents are moving into production, reviewing code, resolving support tickets, updating systems, managing infrastructure, and acting across the applications enterprises depend on every day. As their responsibilities grow, so does the need for control.

Following the completion of our SOC 2 Type I audit, today we’re pleased to share that Guild has completed our SOC 2 Type II examination and received an unqualified opinion from our auditor. This is an important milestone in the continued development of our enterprise security and compliance program.

## What is SOC 2 and why is it important?

SOC 2 (or Service Organization Controls 2) is a framework that is governed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). With a SOC 2 audit, an independent service auditor will review an organization’s policies, procedures, and evidence to determine if their controls are designed and operating effectively. A SOC 2 report communicates a company’s commitment to data security and protection of customer information.

SOC 2 compliance exemplifies an organization’s commitment to their customer’s trust and is a major milestone towards improving their overall security posture. With increasing cybersecurity threats and data breaches, it is paramount that organizations prioritize information security and the protection of their systems and data. By undergoing a SOC 2 audit, our controls and processes were validated by a third-party who attests to the functioning of the controls relevant to our application.

## Building for enterprise environments

Completing our SOC 2 Type II audit reflects the work happening across Guild to establish repeatable controls and dependable operational processes as we scale. It also supports a broader commitment to build Guild for organizations where security, governance, reliability, and accountability are core product requirements.

That means helping enterprises:

- Establish consistent governance across agents built with different models and frameworks
- Apply identity and least-privilege permissions to agent actions
- Mediate access to credentials, integrations, and sensitive systems
- Maintain detailed records of agent sessions, tool calls, and decisions
- Track token consumption and costs across teams and workflows
- Set operational limits and policies before agents take action
- Discover, approve, and reuse trusted agents across the organization
- Support multi-agent systems without losing oversight or accountability

The goal is to give developers a safe, standardized path from experimentation to production.

## Security cannot be added at the end

The agent ecosystem is evolving quickly. New models, frameworks, tools, and protocols appear constantly. Enterprises should not have to rebuild their security and governance model every time the underlying technology changes.

Guild is universal by design: model-agnostic, framework-independent, and vendor-neutral.

Guild’s tools sit between agents and the systems they act upon. This creates a consistent layer for execution, permissions, governance, cost management, and auditability—regardless of how an agent was created.

It also means security is part of the architecture, not a feature added after deployment.

Credentials can be mediated by the runtime rather than exposed directly to agent code. Permissions can be scoped to the systems and actions an agent genuinely needs. Execution can be isolated. Activity can be recorded. Limits can be enforced.

## The next step

This SOC 2 Type II milestone is not a one time project. We’ll engage in continuous monitoring and participate in yearly recurring audits to maintain trust with customers and prospective customers alike. We are pleased with this milestone and plan for it to be the first of many more.
